Victims of Coal Twp. accident identified
COAL TOWNSHIP — Police have released details and identified the three people injured in Monday afternoon’s accident on Route 54 near the Aqua Pa. water treatment plant.
Police reported Mark Ososkie, 32, of 224 S. Locust St., Mount Carmel, was driving a 2012 Volkswagen owned by Northwestern Human Services Inc., Sunbury, east on Route 54 at 4:30 p.m. when the vehicle exited the highway and struck a rock wall. The Volkswagen then spun around and flipped two or three times before coming to rest on the travel lane/berm of the road.
Ososkie was transported by ambulance to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital, where he underwent emergency room treatment before being released.
Two passengers in the vehicle, William Scherer, 28, and Russel Miniers, 55, both of Mount Carmel, also were injured and transported by ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Scherer was listed in serious condition Tuesday. A hospital spokeswoman said there was no record of Miniers being treated at the medical center.
The vehicle was towed from the scene by Dave’s Auto Body. The accident remains under investigation.
