Two Shamokin teens hurt in rear-end crash
COAL TOWNSHIP — Two 19-year-old Shamokin women were injured in a rear-end crash Monday morning at the red light on Route 61 at Tharptown.
Brandi Kleman suffered a chest injury and Alexandria Fiore suffered a head injury. Fiore struck her head on the windshield.
Kleman was driving a 2000 Honda Civic north on Route 61 near 16th Street about 7:20 a.m. when she crashed into the rear of a 2005 Mercury Sable that had stopped at the red light, according to Patrolman Chad Yoder of Coal Township Police.
The Sable was driven by Michelle Bobb, 45, of Dornsife. Yoder said she was not injured.
The Civic was towed. The Sable was driven from the scene.
Northbound traffic, which was detoured around the accident scene through Tharptown, reopened about 7:50 a.m.
