Tigers earn district berth
LAPORTE - Seth Joseph and Nate Mitchell each had a goal and assist, and Tyler Tomaschik recorded seven saves in posting a 4-0 shutout over Sullivan County as Southern Columbia improved to 9-8 overall and qualified for the District Four playoffs Saturday in boys soccer.
Jacob Trathern and Zac Consentino also scored for Southern.

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS - Elizabeth Kapushinski and Danielle Reed each had a goal and assist to lead Shamokin Area to a 3-1 non-conference girls soccer win over North Schuylkill Saturday.
Mackenzie Koharski and Gabby Lahr also scored goals for the Indians (6-8).
Maddie Meyer scored for the Spartans.

MINERSVILLE - Mackenzie O'Brien had three kills and 10 blocks in a losing effort as the Indians outlasted the Miners 22-25, 25-10, 25-17, 25-22 in a non-league match.
For Shamokin, Olivia Bonshock had 28 kills, and Stef Hile 13. Cheyenne Popewczak had seven kils and nine aces, and Ashley Huxta had 38 assists.
Meg Schwalm added 24 digs and two aces for Minersville, while Emily Bartashus added 12 digs.
Minersville won JV 2-0.
Shamokin improved to 11-1.
