3rd annual golf tournament, Saturday, Sept. 7, at Indian Hills Golf Club. Tournament is a 4-man scramble with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Cost is $65 per golfer and includes green and cart fees, longest drive and closest to the pin as well as door prizes and more. Hellbender 5K and Half Marathon
The 5th annual Hellbender 5K and Half Marathon road race will take place Sunday, Aug. 18, at the Weiser State Forest, Roaring Creek Tract. Registration is from 7-8:15 a.m. and the race starts at 8:30. The race is sponsored by the Roaring Creek Valley Conservation Association and the Susquehanna Ridge Runners Club. Proceeds will provide aid for projects to provide and promote clean water in the Roaring Creek watershed. Lourdes Regional Raiderfest 5K
Lourdes Regional's Raiderfest 5K Run will be held Saturday, Aug. 24 at 9 a.m. Race day registration starts at 8:00 at the Lourdes Regional parking lot. Medals will be awarded to the first overall male and female finishers and to the top three finishers, male and female, in nine different age groups. Pre-registered runners are guaranteed a T-shirt. Refreshments will be provided at the finish. Adult registration is $20, students (18 and younger) $15. Registration forms are available at the Lourdes main office or by e-mailing OLOL5K@yahoo.com.
The seventh annual Randy "Ziggy" Zigarski Horseshoe Tournament will be held Saturday, Aug. 17 at Nikomahs Campground off Mile Post Hill Road. Registration ends at noon with play beginning at 1 p.m. Cost is $10 per person and proceeds benefit a memorial scholarship in Zigarski's name at Mount Carmel Area. Both players from the top three teams will receive trophies and there will be concessions.
Keystone Rules Interpretation
The Keystone Chapter of PIAA football officials meeting dates for this season are Aug. 20 and 27, Sept. 3, and 17, Oct. 1, 15 and Oct. 29.
SoCo Hoops Open
The fourth annual Soco Hoops Open golf tournament will be held Saturday, Aug. 31 at Knoebels Three Ponds golf course. Shotgun start for the four-man scramble is 9 a.m. Event is sponsored by the Southern Columbia boys basketball team. For more information or to register, contact Ed Ciocco at 672-2434.

Tickets for the upcoming Red Tornado football season will be on sale at the high school on the following dates: August 19, 20 and 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; August 28 from 6 to 7 p.m. Additional selling times will be scheduled by appointment by calling 339-1500 ext. 3114.
Locust Gap Fire Co. Golf Tournament

Shamokin Area Sports Passes
Shamokin Area student and adult sport passes are available in the high school principal's office. Student passes are $10, adult passes $50. Senior citizen passes are free to persons 65 and older with a valid identification. In addition, reserved football tickets are now available in the principal's office.
HOF Nitros tryouts
Hall of Fame Nitros softball tryouts for the 14U team will be held Friday, Aug. 23, at 5 p.m., and Sunday, Aug. 25, at 2 p.m. at the John O. Long Field in Sunbury, behind the swimming pool. For more information call Troy at 570-850-5839.
