Shamokin Sports Passes

Shamokin Area Middle/High School will be selling sports passes for all home events. Cost is $50 for adults, and $10 for students. Seniors over age 65 can receive a gold card free of charge by showing identification. Passes may be picked up in the principal's office Mondays through Thursdays, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Elysburg Rotary 5K Run and Walk

Monday, Sept. 6 at the Ralpho Community Park in Elysburg. Registration starts at 8 a.m., with the race beginning at 9 a.m. Cost is $15 for runner or walker with both receiving a t-shirt, or $5 for walkers who do not want a shirt.

North Schuylkill Track

The all-weather track at North Schuylkill High School will be open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting. Gym class usage during the day, and athletic practice and after-school events will take precedence. Walkers and joggers are asked to use the two outside lanes in order to minimize wear and tear. Proper footwear is required.

Mount Carmel Season Tickets

Season tickets are on sale for the Mount Carmel Area home football games from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. All sales will be conducted in the MCA athletic office, located in room 108 of the high school. A set of season tickets, which includes five home games costs $25. The first 25 fans purchasing their tickets will receive a "Red Tornado Cheering Towel" compliments of C.J. Lucas Funeral Homes, Inc. VIT passes will also be available for $35 for adults and $20 for students. VIT passes are good for all home events, except district and tournament games.

Spartans Sports Passes

North Schuylkill sports passes are on sale in the high school office. Passes permit free admission to all home athletic events for the 2010-11 school year. Season passes may be purchased weekdays between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., as well as all home athletic events. Cost for a student pass is $20, adult passes are $50. Senior citizens are eligible for a free Lifetime Admittance pass, good for all home athletic events. Passes are available in the athletic office and seniors should bring a form of identification.

Red Tornado Touchdown Club

Monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 6:30 p.m. in the LGL of the Mount Carmel Area Jr/Sr High School. All parents are encouraged to attend.

Shamokin Youth Basketball League

Registration, Thursday, Sept. 16 from 6-8 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 18 from 9 a.m. to Noon; Sunday, Sept. 19 from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. to noon at the American Legion building.

Meet The Spartans Night

North Schuylkill will be holding its annual "Meet the Spartans" night on Thursday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m. at Spartan Stadium, in Fountain Springs. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the gymnasium. All fall sports participants, cheerleaders, and coaches will be recognized, and the Spartan marching band will be performing. There will also be special field dedication ceremony prior to the start of the evening's festivities. The event is free of charge, and the public is encouraged to attend.

Mount Carmel Junior Baseball League

There will be an important meeting of the Mount Carmel Junior Baseball League, Sunday, Sept. 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the Anthracite Fire Co. All teams should send a representative. Nomination of officers for the following year will take place. Collection money is to be turned at this time.

North Schuylkill Advanced Tickets

Tickets will be available until Friday, Sept. 3 for North Schuylkill's home football opener against Shenandoah Valley. Tickets will be sold in the North Schuylkill high school office from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Cost of tickets is $2 for students and $4 for adults.

Meet the Indians

Shamokin Area head football coach Dan Foor has invited all students and fans to a "Meet the Players Night", Thursday, Sept. 2, 7 p.m. at Kemp Memorial Stadium. All band members, cheerleaders, football players and youth football players will be there to kick off the season a night before the season opener at home against Mifflinburg.

Golf Tournament

The annual Northwestern Academy and Northumberland County Juvenile Court Advisory Board golf tournament, will be held Monday, Oct. 11 at the Indian Hills Golf and Tennis Club, Paxinos. Registration is at 8 a.m. with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. Entrance fee is $80 per golfer for the four man best-ball scramble, greens fees, golf cart, dinner and raffles, contests and prizes. For those that want to attend the dinner only, the cost is $25. The tournament benefits Northwestern Academy and the Judge Michael Kivko Youth Scholarship Fund. MC Elks 'Soccer Shoot'

Mount Carmel Elks Lodge will hold a "Soccer Shoot" contest Sunday, Sept. 12, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the soccer fields east of the borough. The competition is open to boys and girls under 14 as of Aug. 1, 2010. There is no cost. Registration will be the day of the event and pre-registration can be done by contacting Ricky Schnee at 339-2856. Winners will advance to the Elks District Shoot with a chance to advance to state and regional shoots.

CYO basketball/cheerleading registration

Our Lady of Hope and St. Patrick's CYO basketball and cheerleading registration for grades K-6 will be Sept. 11 at 18 at Lourdes Regional School. Fee is $20 per child or $30 per family. A tag day will be held Oct. 16. For more information call Pete Long (644-5218) or Tara Klembara (898-5187).
