CATAWISSA R.R. - Kayla Lavella scored 25 points, and Katie Fink and Mackenzie Clark added 12 and 11 points, respectively, as Southern Columbia improved to 15-3 with a 58-44 Heartland Athletic Conference win over Benton in girls basketball Tuesday.

Southern trailed 14-7 after the first quarter but took control with an 18-7 advantage in the second quarter. Justine Seely scored 29 points for Benton.

LEWISBURG - Ali Varano scored 17 points, and Anna Raybuck and Ranotta Ahrensfield 12 each, and the Red Tornadoes withstood a barrage of 3-pointers from Lewisburg for the Heartland Conference Division II win.

Mount Carmel improved to 18-0 overall.

SUNBURY - Shamokin trailed 36-33 early in the fourth quarter, then scored 15 unanswered points to down the Braves and win its eighth straight game.

Olivia Bonshock led the Indians (13-5, 9-1 Heartland Division I) with 13 points. Keena Zalar and Steph Pancher added 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Lauren Onesi and Alexis Angstadt scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, for Shikellamy (8-10, 6-4).
