Southern blanks Central
CATAWISSA RR - Mackenzie Clark staked Southern Columbia to an early lead and the Tigers went on to score twice more while the defense pitched a shutout in a 3-0 girls soccer victory over Central Columbia on Saturday.
Haley Levan and Christina Podpora also scored for Southern (7-0-1).
Jess Watkins knocked away five shots in goal.

HEGINS - Shandi Lenker and Meadow Walshaw-Wertz scored for the Eagles as they overcame an early deficit to down the Bulldogs in a non-league game at Bulldog Stadium.
Britt Smeltz gave Tri-Valley the lead on a penalty kick, but Lenker tied the game and Walshaw-Wertz gave Line Mountain the lead.

MOUNT CARMEL - Ali Varano scored three goals, and Anna Zeluskey added two, leading the Red Tornadoes to the non-league victory over the Red Raiders.
Rachel Schultz scored both goals for Lourdes.

LOYALSOCK TOWNSHIP - Nicole Dougherty's goal on a penalty kick in the second overtime gave the Lancers the victory over the Indians.
Loyalsock had taken a 1-0 lead in the first half on a penalty kick goal by Ally Pagana. Shamokin's Gabby Lahr scored off an assist from Elizabeth Kapushinski early in the second half to knot the score at 1.
Brianna Martin stopped eight of the 10 shots she faced for Shamokin.

MINERSVILLE - Hannah Rinaldo and Leah Leshko each scored a pair of goals as the Miners blanked the Spartans in a non-league match.
Morgen Woodford also scored for Minersville, which held North Schuylkill without a shot on goal. Rachel Sterner contributed two assists.

CATAWISSA RR - Miranda Long scored three goals, leading the Tigers to the Heartland Conference victory over the Indians.
Storm Letterman and Elyse Noll also scored for the tigers (3-4).

Wellsboro wins Shamokin tourney
Wellsboro completed an unbeaten path and spoiled the upset bid of Mahanoy Area to win the Shamokin Invitational Tournament with a 25-13 win over the Golden Bears in the championship match.
After posting a 4-4 record to place second in its pool, Mahanoy Area upset Shamokin, which went unbeaten in eight matches in its pool, by a 25-18 count in the semifinals.
After losing 25-6, 25-8 to the champion Hornets in pool play, Mahanoy Area took a 3-1 lead in the final, but Wellsboro battled back to tie the match twice before pulling away. The Hornets scored the final nine points of the match.
Millersburg also reached the semifinal round before falling 25-18 to Wellsboro in the semifinals of the 10-team tournament.
