NEW YORK - David Adams, son of 1979 Line Mountain graduate Dale Adams, made his major league debut Wednesday night, starting at third base for the New York Yankees in a 12-2 setback to the Seattle Mariners.

Adams, who played high school baseball in Florida where his father was his head coach, had one hit in four at-bats, a sixth-inning single to center field. He was promoted from Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre earlier in the day.

He played college baseball at the University of Virginia before being selected by the Yankees in the third round of the 2008 amateur draft.
