COAL TOWNSHIP - The Shamokin-Mount Carmel 11-year-old All-Star team stunned Berwick with a come-from-behind rally in the sixth inning Saturday at Ferndale Field.

S-MC, trailing 6-5 but with the last at-bats, scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to advance to play Danville today at 3 p.m. at Ferndale.

Nick Troutman started S-MC's rally with a line-drive single, and moved over to second on a sac bunt by Tyler Owens. Anthony Stutzcavage, who pitched the final three innings, hit an RBI single scoring Troutman. Stutzcavage then scored on a single by Michael Balichik.

Aaron Christiana started the game on the mound for S-MC and had three strikeouts. Jacob Thompson added a triple and a single at the plate for Shamokin-Mount Carmel.

S-MC advances in 12-year-old tournament

Shamokin-Mount Carmel's 12-year-old All-Stars beat North Columbia 9-2 Saturday in their elimination bracket game at Berwick's Ber-Vaughn Park.

S-MC took a 4-1 first-inning lead on a two-run home run by Mark Wetzel and a solo shot by Jacob Carpenter and never looked back.

Tommy Reisinger picked up the win, striking out 10 along the way.

Also hitting for S-MC where: Colin Herb, home run; John Ayres, double, single; Jacob Klokis, single; Quinn Rollman, double; Max Tillett, single; Jack Chapman, single; Wetzel, double, single; and Carpenter, single.

S-MC plays Monday in a rematch with Berwick at 7:30 p.m.
