PIAA reclassifications listed

MECHANICSBURG - The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association released the details of its biannual reclassification on Tuesday.

Changes involving local schools include:

- Shamokin Area - With male enrollment at 329, the Indians are now a Class AAA team in football, up from Class AA. All other sports remain the same.

- Southern Columbia - Baseball gets bumped down from Class AA to A with a male enrollment of 153, right on the cusp of the 153 limit set forth by the PIAA.

- Line Mountain - Girls basketball moves from Class AA to A, while baseball gets bumped from A to AA.

- North Schuylkill - Baseball is pushed to Class AAA, as is boys soccer up to AAA with the coop with Minersville.

- Lourdes and Mount Carmel have no reported changes.

Of other interest is Bloomsburg's football team moving from Class A to Class AA starting next year.
