MCA, LM girls earn crowns
SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT - Mount Carmel clinched its second straight Heartland Conference Division II title with a 65-57 win over South Williamsport Tuesday.
"It feels pretty good," Mount Carmel head coach Lisa Varano said. "It's a credit to the girls. It was a tough crowd tonight with a packed gym and they fought through the game. I'm very proud of them."
Kim Andruscavage led a contingent of four Red Tornadoes in double figures with 20 points.
Ranotta Ahrensfield followed with 16 and Ali Varano and Heather Bolick scored 12 and 11 points, respectively, for the Red Tornadoes.
The win also clinches the number one seed in the upcoming District 4 Class AA playoffs.

MANDATA - Line Mountain achieved one preseason goal Tuesday night - a Tri-Valley League title.
Kasey Long scored 22 and and Mikhail Whitcomb 18 as the Eagles registered a blow out over Upper Dauphin.
Line Mountain also secured the top seed in the District 4 Class A playoffs. Madison Lagerman and Jade London scored 13 and 11 points, respectively, for the 20-0 Eagles.

JERSEY SHORE - Shamokin's Steph Pancher led the Indians to their 10th win in a row and put them in excellent position for their second straight division title.
Pancher scored 15 points in a defensive slugfest and the Indians held on against Jersey Shore despite scoring just three points in the fourth quarter.

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - Christina Perles tallied 18 points and Sarah Getchey added 15 as the Red Raiders routed the Hurricanes in a Division II game.
Lourdes, which led 41-10 at halftime, drained eight 3-pointers on the night.
Sarah Celani led Schuylkill Haven with 15 points.
