MANDATA - Line Mountain is on the verge of being eliminated from playoff contention with a 7-2 Tri-Valley League loss to Upper Dauphin Friday.

The loss is the Eagles 10th with three games to play this season. Line Mountain needs to win all three to qualify for the Class A playoffs.

"Pressure can be a good thing, too," Line Mountain head coach Jordan Taraschuk said. "Now we know we have to come to play every day. There is no more cushion. Now we know we need all of them."

Upper Dauphin pitcher Amber Bingaman shut down the Eagles' offense. She allowed just two hits and issued two walks while striking out 12 for the win.

"I thought Bingaman pitched much better against us here than when we played them the first time," Taraschuk said. "I thought she changed speeds a lot better and was more effective moving the ball up and down in the zone. She kept us on our heels enough that when we did get a pitch to hit, we couldn't hit it with any authority."

Line Mountain did seem to gather a little steam in the fifth inning when Savannah Copson walked to lead off the inning, then scored on a Sarah Lahr triple. Lahr later scored when Deidre Long grounded to short but was safe on a throwing error.

Line Mountain is scheduled to play Millersburg today at home.
