MILLERSBURG - Cory Warford, Kyle Mace, Austin Snyder and Colton Gaw all had two hits as Line Mountain defeated Millersburg 8-7 in scholastic baseball Friday, raising its record to 8-7 overall and staying in contention for a postseason berth.

Zach Bobb got the win in relief of Snyder, who had a triple and double and drove in two runs.

Austin Hoke and Mitchell Novinger each had two hits for the Indians.

Line Mountain is 7-5 in the Tri-Valley League.

HUGHESVILLE - Justin Lambert threw a two-hit, five-inning shutout against the Indians. Lambert struck out nine and walked two. Lambert was also 2-for-2 at the plate and scored two runs.

Paul Gurba was the losing pitcher.

Shamokin dropped to 9-7 overall.

North Schuylkill 8 Pen Argyl 6

PEN ARGYL - Tom Gallagher went 3-for-4 with a pair of solo homers and Alex Wiley pitched out of a seventh-inning jam as the Spartans notched their eighth straight victory.

Dan Demansky and Matt Smarkanic each had two hits and two RBIs for North Schuylkill, which led 6-1 at one point. Jake Damiter reached base four times and scored two runs.

Bobby Grigas took an 8-3 lead into the seventh, but Tanner Geake hit a two-run homer and Logan Humphreys tripled. Wiley came on and ended the threat by getting a pair of grounders to end it.

Joraskie, Kwiatkowski win at Schuylkill Relays

POTTSVILLE - Mount Carmel's Eric Joraskie and Tyler Kwiatkowski combined to win the discus with a total of 261 feet, 10 inches at the 43rd annual Schuylkill County Relays.

They were the only Mount Carmel winner. Mount Carmel finished fourth in the boys team standings with 58 points.
