MIFFLINBURG - Mount Carmel Area won when it needed to most, closing out its regular season with a 61-43 non-league victory over Mifflinburg Monday night.

The victory clinched a District 4 Class AA playoff berth for the Red Tornadoes (11-11), who will now have a quick turnaround and meet Southern Columbia at the Tigers' gym, Wednesday at 7 p.m. in a preliminary round district game.

The winner of that one travels to Cocolamus on Saturday to meet top-seeded and unbeaten East Juniata in a quarterfinal.

Monday night, Zach Tocyloski led a trio of Red Tornadoes in double figures, scoring 20 points in the victory. Ben Scicchitano and Zach Wasilewski added 14 points apiece.

Nobody scored in double digits for the Wildcats.
