SHAMOKIN - Out of the 206 entrants received in week 6 of The News-Item Football Contest, 10 correctly picked 13 out of 14 games correctly, forcing the judges to go to the high-score tiebreakers to name the winners.

Barb Scott, of 125 Academy St., Shamokin, correctly picked 54 points as the high score, which was reached by Southern Columbia in its 54-14 win over Selinsgrove Friday. For her correct guess, Scott will receive a $50 gift certificate from any of the contest's participating businesses.

Ashley Sabo, of 1008 W. Walnut St., Coal Township, had the next closest guess with 53 points, winning second place and a $25 gift certificate.

Two competitors picked 52 points as the highest score of the week, so a random drawing was used to determine third place. Jason C. James, of 652 Bear Valley Ave, Shamokin, was picked as the winner, earning a $15 gift certificate over J. Andrukanis, of 118 S. Maple St., Mount Carmel.
