DES MOINES, Iowa - Line Mountain graduate Jon Fausey of the University of Virginia, wrestling at 174 pounds, won his first round match at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, but dropped his second to the top-seeded wrestler Thursday.
Fausey (31-10) decisioned Columbia's Stephen West 3-0, then lost 4-0 to Oklahoma State's Chris Perry. Fausey and Perry are not strangers; they wrestled each other twice in the postseason following their senior year in high school, with Fausey winning a decision at the Dapper Dan all-star meet in Pittsburgh and Perry returning the favor in an all-star meet in Oklahoma.
Fausey was scheduled to wrestle in a consolation bout against the winner of match between Old Dominion's Billy Curling and Missouri's Todd Porter.
