Ed Romance Hall lists '10 inductees

The Ed Romance Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame has announced the inductees for the class of 2010. This year's banquet will be the chapter's 32nd anniversary affair and will be held March 27 at Lazarski's Banquet Hall at 2:00 p.m.

Inductees in the class of are:

Warren Altomare - Long time "voice" of Mount Carmel Area football in his duties as anchor of the weekly WKMC TV football show, original member and secretary/treasurer of the MCA Breakfast/Supper Club and chairman of Lions Club teener league baseball

Norb Bonjo - Three-sport standout at MCA in the early 1960s - hard nosed fullback who earned scholarship to Lenoir-Rhyne after a great season at Fork Union Military Academy.

David Dallabrida Sr. - head golf coach at MCA for 17 years - coached six division championship teams as well as three individual District Four champions - two times Coach of the Year - outstanding golfer himself.

Ed Kaminsky - believed to be the only person from Kulpmont to receive a scholarship to Notre Dame - all-state at Kulpmont in 1939 - member of the 1938 championship team and played in the East-West Classic in Hawaii.

Michael Kogut - outstanding football and track athlete at MCA - District 11 shot put champion - state medalist - three-year starter at Bloomsburg University - 3 PSAC championship teams - current head coach at Tri Valley.

George McFee - instrumental behind the creation and development of WKMC-TV at MCA - responsible for giving a "face" to Mount Carmel Area football as well as other sports at MCA - spent over five decades of televising and replaying MCA sports

The chapter will also honor two scholar athletes, Emily Skonecki, the Joseph D. Wasilewski Female Scholar Athlete; and T.J. Heromin, the Joseph 'Jazz' Diminick male scholar athlete. In addition, the chapter will Mount Carmel Catholic High's 1962 Championship football team coached by Bob Oravitz .The chapter will also present the Pauline Visintainer Scholarship funded by the Bob Greco family, as well as special achievement awards to Ahmad Abuomar, Trevor Demko, and Shane Wondoloski.

Tickets for this year's banquet will be available at Community Pharmacy in Mount Carmel or by calling Frank Niglio at 373-3861.
