ATLAS - Atlas Fire Co. captured the 2013 version of the Mount Carmel Junior Baseball League World Series with a 6-3 win over VFW.

Atlas jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a single by Tommy Reisinger and a home run by Damon Dowkus. VFW narrowed the score at 2-1 in the second on a double by Brayden Harvey, who advanced to third on a passed ball, and scored on a sacrifice fly to centerfield by Brady Campbell.

Atlas added a run in the third when Dowkus doubled and scored on a single by Nick Diminick. Atlas upped the score to 6-1 in the fourth inning when Joey Dudeck walked, Cody Chmielewski reached base on an error, Reisinger singled, and Bear Wagner singled.

In the sixth inning Brock Evert singled, and Shane Weidner hit a home run for VFW to make the score 6-3.

Atlas has won back-to-back series titles, and the victory extended its league play winning streak to 28 games.

Wagner was the winning pitcher with relief from Reisinger. Evert was the losing pitcher with relief from Chapman.
