PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh police are trying to determine if two vehicles found submerged in the Monongahela River had been stolen.

The city's River Rescue Unit pulled the vehicles out of the river near the Homestead Grays Bridge about 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

Authorities say someone walking a dog spotted the vehicles, a sport-utility vehicle and a small dump truck. The windshield wipers on one of the vehicles appeared to be running, leading police to believe at least that vehicle had not been in the river very long.

The vehicles were about five feet from shore and not completely under water.

Police are also investigating a report of bullet holes in one of the vehicles.
