Pa. district rings opening bell on school sale

ERIE, Pa. (AP) — A closed northeastern Pennsylvania elementary school is opening its doors, this time for inspection by perspective buyers.
The Erie School District says it's putting its Glenwood Elementary School up for sale after closing the school earlier this year.
Bidders can bring their calculators and tape measures to the school starting Thursday. Sealed bids will be reviewed by the district starting Dec. 14.
Superintendent Jay Badams tells the Erie Times-News (http://bit.ly/Xcl8nW) the district needs to get more than $1.1 million for the 3.35-acre property to meet its budget projections.
The district voted over the summer to close Glenwood and two other schools. The district says it won't sell the other two before completion of a long-term facilities plan.
