MINA, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a 1-year-old Pennsylvania boy has died from injuries suffered in an accident on a western New York highway last week.
The Chautauqua (shuh-TAW'-kwuh) County Sheriff's Office tells The Post-Journal of Jamestown (http://bit.ly/13IgJaa) that Achilles McBride of Westfield, Pa., died Saturday at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Deputies say 39-year-old Matthew McBride was driving in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 86 early last Wednesday morning when he slammed into a tractor-trailer that had stopped on the highway in the town of Mina because of poor visibility.
Achilles was taken to Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa., and was later transferred to the Pittsburgh hospital.
Matthew McBride was treated at Hamot and released. Deputies say 28-year-old Esmeraldo McBride remains hospitalized at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.
The truck driver wasn't injured.
