God has defined marriage
To the editor: This is in response to Thomas F. O'Neill's editorial and statement that "homosexual people can also live virtuous lives as married couples."
Virtue is defined as moral excellence and righteousness, chastity, pure in mind and heart.
God's word defines marriage as being between a man and a woman for the purpose of procreating children and bringing them up in the ways of the Lord God.
As a Christian Catholic, I have been taught to hate the sin and love the sinner, since Jesus came into this world, not to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
God's word calls homosexuality an abomination and a mortal sin, and God's word and rules for living never change. They trump, hands down, any law or practice written by mere mortals, including the U.S. Supreme Court.
If you're looking for God's approval, then believe and follow Jesus Christ and his teachings, just as our Christian founding father's did. It is Christianity that has made and kept this nation free, and when and if Christianity is taken away, so will our freedoms be gone. Then, tyrants will rule our nation.
As for government and religion, government has no place in religion, but religion does have a place in government. True Christians, not those who talk the talk but don't walk the walk, make the best citizens and leaders. The sooner our nation gets back to the Christian principles it was founded upon, the sooner our nation will once again be the shining city on the hill that all the world admired.
