PPL Electric Utilities uses these phrases to provide the public with an idea of what makes us tick. It's who we are.

We have dedicated employees, for sure. And that dedication is to you, the customers we serve. One important part of serving customers is providing programs to help them if they are struggling financially. Shutting off service truly is a last resort and we offer a range of options to help customers maintain uninterrupted service.

The Cold Weather Survey released last month by the state Public Utility Commission showed about 5,000 households across the state would enter the winter season without electric service.

PPL Electric Utilities had no one without service heading into the past three winters and one this year, a mark that leads the state's major electric utilities. We continue to work with that lone customer to re-establish service.

PPL Electric Utilities' customers, provided they meet income-eligibility requirements, have a range of programs that can help if they find themselves behind on their electric bill.

We offer programs that provide everything from direct financial assistance with electric bills to home weatherization and conservation services. We were one of the first electric utilities in the country to offer a payment assistance fund. Spending on programs for low-income customers last year topped $63 million.

For information on all our programs, visit www.pplelectric.com/billhelp.

For electric bill consistency, consider budget billing. It's a free service that divides your annual electricity use into equal monthly payments so you know what to expect. We make adjustments every three months - up or down to reflect actual use - to reduce the chance of a big settlement at the end of your budget billing year. You can stop at any time.

Getting started is easy. Just visit www.pplelectric.com and select Billing and Payments under My Account. You'll need to sign into your online account. If you don't have one, you'll have to create one to access budget billing and other great tools, like our Energy Analyzer, to help you manage your electric use.

No computer? No problem. You always can call us at 1-800-342-5775.

Payment arrangements also can be an option and we've set things up so you can do this online if you choose, on your time schedule. Visit www.pplelectric.com and select Payment Assistance under My Account.

You also can call direct to Payment Assistance at 1-800-358-6623 to use our automated telephone system. If you need more information or want to discuss any of the information provided to you, call us toll-free at 1-800-DIAL-PPL (1-800 342-5775) between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
