Daughter praises Life Geisinger program
To the Editor: Help comes to us in a number of ways throughout our lives. For my family, Life Geisinger has been a form of salvation. Recently, I had the opportunity of enrolling my mother, who is 89, in the Life Geisinger program.
The experience started with a tour of a beautiful building, located in Kulpmont. The staff was upbeat and caring. I knew in the first five minutes they were devoted to these people placed in their trust.
As we grow older, and there is no escaping this process, we become tired, lonely and have a feeling of not being needed or useful, along with developing medical and physical problems. The program at Life provides so much to our elders, and is available on a daily basis, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Members are picked up at their front door by gracious and friendly people and taken to the center. It is a home away from home. It is warm and cozy and happy - and oh-so pleasant. Needs are met above and beyond expectations.
Many avenues are provided such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, recreational therapy, nutrition, pet therapy, personal hygiene, personal care, warm meals and so much more. A clinic is available that is fully staffed, including an exceptional physician and many qualified technicians with 24-hour on-call service and full staff support.
Gentle hugs, kind words of support and kisses are always available. Members meet new friends everyday and regain ther feeling of belonging. The program has given back to my Mom something to look forward to every day. She laughs and smiles and she is involved.
Thank you Life, for her new life,
Judy Bartko
