Conditions are better at church; why not go?

To the editor: Last week, we watched the Penn State game on TV. Remember what the weather was? There were more than 100,000 fans there. Can you imagine that many people sitting through the same conditions for church of Sunday School? I wonder how many people that were at the game had some real good excuse for not going to church the next day. Don't get me wrong. I am not against Penn State. I am just using the game as an example.

We are struggling to get 50 people into our church and boy, do we hear the excuses why some are not there. Maybe we should turn off the heat and not have it nice and comfortable in the stands (pews). Perhaps a spray of water and some snowflakes thrown in may add to the incentive to appear in our arena or stadium. If you attend both a church service and Sunday School, you will get a little over two hours of your time involved. How long does the average sports event last? What will give you more benefits? A few hours of entertainment or eternal life, not much of a decision if you ask me.

Go to the games this week but also go to church and Sunday School.
