Coal Crackers thankful as 13th year begins
To the editor: The Coal Crackers Club will begin its 13th year in existence bringing together many friends they haven't seen for some time, as well as making new friends. We, the coordinators, are very proud of this organization and what has been accomplished over the past 12 years.
We congratulate our faithful members who have attended all or most of our luncheons and picnics from the very beginning. We are looking forward to many more events in the future.
But we must give credit to our faithful friends who have helped us along the way. We are talking about Andy Heintzelman, editor of The News-Item, and our buddy, Mike Staugaitis, also of The News-Item. They have promoted our program from the very beginning.
We also say a big thank you to Brian Masser, his wife, Chris, and their gracious staff for making the luncheons a huge success with all of that excellent food (especially those pork chops).
Another thank you goes to Dick Knoebel and the catering department at Knoebels Amusement Resort. The service at the park has been great, and, of course, so is the food.
It would be impossible to name all our wonderful guest speakers and entertainers over the years. They have certainly brought back memories, and provided exciting information about the area that many of our members didn't know.
We would be remiss if we did not remember all the coordinators who are no longer with us. They are missed.
Last, but not least, we must say thank you to all our members. We are looking forward to seeing you at our first luncheon of 2013 at Masser's Restaurant.
Thank you all.
