To the editor: It is with mixed emotions that I am responding to the retirement of state Rep. Robert Belfanti.

As a friend, I am happy that, after his many years of service, his wife and family will be able to enjoy more time with their husband, father and grandfather.

As a leader, I will miss a man who was tireless in his efforts on behalf of his district. Over the years, I have worked with many state and local politicians. I have never met a more sincere and hard-working government official than Bob.

I first met Bob as Reinhart FoodService was looking for a potential building site. Bob was instrumental in Reinhart's decision to build our distribution center in this district. I was impressed with Bob's dedication to bringing good jobs to Coal Township. Bob spoke very highly of the work ethic and quality of the people in the area. He convinced us that to build elsewhere would be a mistake.

I will miss Bob as a leader and champion for the area. Bob, enjoy your retirement, as it is well deserved.
