The chief knows
Come on, Griffiths is a nice guy. He knows what he's doing; it's just the kids who are bad. He is doing his job.
Curb your dog
How inconsiderate could the dog owner be in Kulpmont? The dog made his business on the sidewalk for people to step in and drag all over town. Curb your dog!
During my travels around town, I frequently go down Rock Street and notice these trailers with aluminum roofing materials on them. They have been there all summer. What I don't understand is, I read The News-Item daily and see people being fined for abandoned vehicles, but this person gets away with this. He has no respect for the church over there of for that section of the city.
Give and take
The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not take from somebody else first.
Rid of scum
Many kudos to courageous Mr. Shearn for his call about the meth lab. Maybe now people will wake up and pay attention to what is going on around them and get rid of some more scum.
I am just calling in regard to Mr. Moser. I think Mr. Moser is one of the hardest working people in Mount Carmel, and I am sure it is not him running his compactor at 2 a.m. He goes to work and goes to council meetings and fights for the public all the time.
Refuse and resist
Twenty-six states with Republican governors refused the 100 percent federal Medicaid funding that comes with the Affordable Care Act. This will leave eight million uninsured. Since the young are the most likely to be uninsured, they will likely move to a state where the subsidized insurance is available.
You know there is really no reason for these garbage men to be spooking around at 2, 3, 4 or 5 a.m. They should be out at a decent hour. I know you've got to work, but not at that time in the morning and not in somebody's yard.
Why is Jake Betz writing these articles about Northumberland County politics at this time? Election day is right around the corner. Is he trying to get people, the voters, to change their minds about the way they intend to vote? Frog's take: Nope, just a look back at the history of county and local politics. If anything, it's building interest and showing that voting matters. Besides, there are no current candidates involved.
