A little bitter

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association's removing Mormonism's designation as a "cult" from its website had nothing to do with it accepting Mormons as Christians. It had everything to do with the white evangelicals' bitter hate for the black president, Obama. The election is over. They will revert to reviling Mormons as a cult as they did before.

Whose to blame?

Hostess has been in bankruptcy for years, but yet its executives continue to receive large increases and even now, as they are liquidating, top management execs are trying to take $1.75 million in additional bonuses. The bakers, on the other hand, in their latest round of concessions, were told they'd lose 8 percent of their pay and 30 percent of their benefits, and would not be paid for overtime. Seems to me it is the corporate scums, not the $30,000-a-year baker.

Tebow time

Here is an idea: How about the Eagles picking up Tebow? Maybe then they would win some games. Also, the Jets would appreciate what they have. They should give him more playing time. Maybe they would win more games. Frog's take: I am all for Tebow going to any team except for the Dolphins. Full disclosure: I am a Dolphins fan.

Postal payback

I think the postal service should be getting millions back from Lance Armstrong for all the millions they gave him and endorsed him over the years. Then he got caught up in the steroid problem. I think he should be paying the postal service some of the money back.

Corporate filling

Sometimes I just read stuff in this paper that really ticks me off. Like the idiot who called in about Twinkies and Hostess going out of business because of union greed. It's not union greed; it is corporate greed. Just like the rest of the country in the auto industry and the steel industry.

Ex's in Texas

Texas has the most individuals without health insurance in the nation. I am sure their elderly will not want to join them by giving up their Social Security and Medicare. They have also used plenty of FEMA money for repeated hurricanes. Their secession may be short-lived.

Ho-ho and a hard place

On the business page in The News-Item, the article about the demise of Hostess stated that the management took 80 percent increases in their salaries. So it clearly was not only a union problem.

Mystery money

To the person who said grants will be the start of how Obamacare will provide services to millions of uninsured: Grants are the continuation of freebies. Where is the money coming from? Do you know?

Total invasion

Newspapers publish the salaries of teachers, policemen, state workers and so forth. How about letting the taxpayers know what welfare recipients get. Not by name, of course, because that would be a violation of their privacy.

Out of gas

If Sheetz wants to do business in this area and they can't get gas, they should just close down, because you know they weren't selling the premium gas cheaper for loyal customers.
