I like Masser's idea on how to fix this blight problem. Now he wants to pay a tax on our homeowner's insurance. The people who are taking care of their houses will be paying for somebody like that guy down in Kulpmont so he can buy his cigarettes and booze. Good idea, Masser.
Regarding the Mount Carmel teachers, I think they do deserve a raise. I think we need a clean sweep of the school board. Out with the old and in with the new. The teachers go out of their way for some of the students. They provide coats and boots in cases where the parents are not providing for their kids. They certainly do deserve a raise.
As a retired teacher of many years, I feel I can speak from experience. In order for others to condemn teachers they need to spend time with them during a school day. Their role is not only to teach their particular curriculum. They also must be counselor, many times give parental guidance, see to their medical needs and correct their behavior when needed. Please give our teachers the credit they deserve and treat them fairly.
There are very few young people attending Mass. Where are the parents?
Taken to task
When was Jerry Splane made a member of the county drug task force? Saying that he kept the Raspberry Hill complex safe is a total slap in the face to our local police force. These guys leave their house every day or night, putting their lives on the line to protect and serve us. Splane had nothing to do with the drug bust, so don't dare disgrace our "men in blue."
Bunch of baloney
I am sick of all these rundown properties in the area. If you can't afford to keep your home, sell it and move into an apartment. I'm tired of all the whining going on lately. What do you think your negligence does to the properties around you? And now Mr. Masser wants to add a percentage to homeowners policies to cover blight. Baloney! Why should the rest of us have to foot the bill for someone else's problem? Most homeowners take care of their properties, we don't want to have to pay for yours because you can't afford it! I'm sick and tired of the government sticking their nose into my business and taxing John Q.. Public to death. We pay enough taxes. No one gives the working class people anything; they're always sticking it to us.
