Got to get paid
I think it is wonderful that President Obama is going to circumvent and finally give some power back to the people who put in many hours that they don't get paid for. I, myself, was a supervisor and got a set salary, and yet I put in more than 60 and 70 hours a week and never got paid any overtime or was otherwise compensated for it.
Foot in mouth
Republican congressmen keep putting their feet in their mouths.
I am in total agreement with the person calling in about parking permits for homeowners. I think it is a good idea. It would be a plus for local municipalities. They could make money on the permits and the homeowner would also have peace of mind knowing they would have their parking place when they return home.
Pay to play
We pay school taxes, which are always going up, and now they want our children to help with their budget with "pay to play?" Get a life, school board.
Breaks my back
As a parent in the Southern Columbia School District, I find it absolutely embarrassing that the school board is going to have a pay-to-play fee for students to participate in extracurricular activities. Those kids put so much time and effort in, and now your are going to make them pay? As a parent, if I am paying for my son or daughter to play a sport, then that is my effort toward volunteering. Don't ask me to work the stands or sell anything. You are already making enough money off of those poor kids.
To the knucklehead who embarrassed himself with the comment entitled "Real jobs," this proves the point why teachers are vastly underpaid. Like the old saying goes, you get what you pay for.
Wow, I see in The News-Item where President Barack Obama wants to stop deporting illegal immigrants from the United States. How would you like to be a Democrat running for reelection in November?
Pay, then play
If my kids are going to pay to play football, I want them to play. Not just the last two minutes of the game. I don't want him be on the bench-warming squad for 45 minutes out of 48.
