Pick, pick, pick
I would like to make a comment supporting the code officer. I had him work for me. I had a problem and he fixed it. It's all these goofballs who have been cited because he has been doing his job that are just picking on him.
Bad apples
I am calling about the pension reforms in Mount Carmel Area School District. The teachers are leaving and they want to increase their salaries to keep the good teachers. The only way you are going to get rid of the bad teachers is decrease the salaries. Decrease the salaries until they have to leave. Frog's take: What?
Pay up
I am calling about the person who wrote about raising taxes in Mount Carmel to pay for the school teachers. All they have to do is collect the taxes that people don't pay and they would have enough money to pay the teachers and keep them.
Dog gone
This is for the person who killed my dog two weeks ago in Helfenstein. You did not even stop to see if he was OK. You left him there lying in the middle of the road to die. He had tags. We could have been contacted. You took my best buddy; he went with me everywhere. I couldn't eat or sleep for four days. The accident was probably unavoidable, but you left him to die on the road.
Makes sense
Let's recant on the Jim Zurick situation. First, there is the major problem at STEB (State Tax Equalization Board), and then he gets appointed to the workers comp appeals board at four times the salary. Makes sense to me. How about you?
Not doing job
I am calling about our school real estate taxes in the Mount Carmel Area School District. They are actually higher than any of our other taxes combined. Then somebody calls in and says that we got to raise our taxes to keep these teachers?
No parking
About Commissioner Clausi's plan to move all the offices from Sunbury to the career center in Shamokin: There is no parking up there now. How are they going to fit 700 more employees in that building and where the heck are they going to park? Frog's take: Parking has been mentioned as a major concern, but this is only an idea, and it wouldn't involve nearly all of the county employees, of which there are about 500.
Shoot first
Seems the cops in California when they want to get their guy they just start shooting. Don't they ask people to identify themselves before they shoot their trucks all up?
The devil you know
I think if Gov. Corbett could make a deal with the devil he would sell his soul to them.
Dumb and dumber
The person who called and said people are getting dumber and dumber is absolutely right. They voted in Corbett, Marino and Barletta. Now they are complaining.
Reduce your rate
I agree with Gov. Corbett that the state police pensions are too high. They should be reduced.
Kitty cats
Jenna, loved the pictures of the kitty cats in your column this week. My favorite one was the one up in the right-hand corner, the one that you like. Keep up the good work. I really like your columns. Have a nice day.
Will hurt all
Our governor has a hard job to budget state money, but lifting the franchise cap on Pennsylvania gas will hurt all people who need gas to run their businesses, farm, truckers carrying food and building materials, plus PennDOT. It doesn't stop there. Who do you think is going to pay the extra cost?
Phone scam
I just wanted to warn the readers that I got a phone call from a guy who said he was from Jamaica and wanted me to go to Walmart and get a money pack card for $139, bring it back home and call him back and give him the numbers from this card and the next day I would receive a big-screen TV from Walmart. It would be on my porch. They are targeting senior citizens. They ask if you are over 60. Please don't fall for this.
Football stance
I would like to commend Mr. Sosnoskie on the stance he took for keeping Southern Columbia Area on the football schedule. Remember the first game of the renewal of the series? No one gave Shamokin a chance to win and they pulled off an upset. Keep up the good work, Bernie.
