The pain gain
Friday's editorial looks at refinancing debt as a plus for Shamokin this year. Refinancing the city's debt is good for banks and lawyers. It extends the loan. Less pain now, more pain later. It kicks the can down the road to any young Shamokin homeowners foolish enough to hang around long enough to pay it all off.
All parked up
Why does the city give a special parking sign to a person who keeps their car in a rented garage? This is just for spite so no one can park in front of her house. But yet she will continue to rent the garage and keep her vehicle in it. The city better rethink who they hand out signs to. Ask the neighbors what goes on.
Shoot your eye out
I was interested in Commissioner Clausi's reaction in the paper. It seemed like a typical bully to me. In fact, it reminded of "A Christmas Story" when the bully got punched in the nose and went home crying to tell his mother. Maybe the bully finally got his comeuppance.
Elephant talk
Shamokin tax millage goes up, along with a raise of $9,000-plus, all compliments of the Democratic-controlled city council. Great formula for a ghost town. Vote Republican next year and clean house at City Hall. Oh, sorry, I forgot; Strausser is a Republican in name only.
On the sideline
I am very disappointed in Mr. Shoch. I think it is time he brought forward some ideas and not just criticism. I would like to see his budget plan and what effect it would have on the citizens of Northumberland County.
On point
I truly and honestly believe that Mr. Shoch should return to Point Township and try to straighten out what he messed up over there. I don't believe he has the qualification or the knowledge or the ability to run the county or be involved in running the county. Just by the examples he set and what he has said in the past few days.
Magic eight ball
I read Mr. Stuck's article in the paper today and I think Mr. Stuck should run for commissioner next time since he knows all the answers. Maybe he also forgot to add Mr. Cwalina's name to the commissioners list.
