The person who called to compare prison guards' salaries to teachers' sounds like they feel justified in being compensated for their fear on the job. Money spent on education, including equitable pay for quality teachers, is surely a better public investment than the exuberant costs spent on incarcerating people who have failed society. So there is a big difference in the two jobs. Teachers educate students, guiding them to become productive members of our society, while prison guards have no bearing on creating a better future.
Not the same
Prison guards get paid because they risk their lives. Unless you know a bunch of kids that are killers, it is not the same thing.
Walk the line
I am calling about the person talking about a prison guard making $60,000 a year. First of all, a lot of those guards have college degrees. They put their lives on the line everyday. I would rather see them protect us by keeping the murderers in prison. Teachers can work in a prison if they want. I wouldn't talk about teachers or prison guards.
To the caller who called in and said Mount Carmel was only going to only lose two games this season, How does he like to eat his crow?
Why bother ?
Mr. Clausi and Mr. Bridy have made a mockery of our elected officials. They have singlehandedly made the controller a must-have in the county. The other elected officials might as well not even bother running. Thanks again.
I can't wait for Obamacare to kick in when all these supporters see the higher deductibles, the cost of the policies and the number of doctors who are going to bail and not even accept the insurance anymore. Then you'll see what Obamacare is really all about.
Man in the mirror
To the people of Northumberland County: Remember, you voted the clowns into office.
Obamacare is an entitlement, and entitlements are bankrupting the country. The Tea Party wants a less obtrusive government from bailouts to NSA to funding terrorists.
I would like to congratulate the young lady who ran the mini-thon at the Mount Carmel Area High School. What they did was really fantastic. Just shows you we do have good youth in our area. They are not all druggies and alcoholics.
I agree with your theory about two sockets and two plugs, but man has found a way around it. He plugs into a different kind of socket. What a shock.
This is to all the callers complaining about the MCA teachers. Besides sleep, the teachers are the ones spending most of the day with your kids. Not only do they educate them, but they also teach discipline, responsibility and too many other things to even mention. If you know a single teacher, then you know they often take their work home to grade papers and tests and spend a lot of time, effort and money out of their pockets to complete their jobs. You people should be ashamed of yourselves for saying anything except that teachers are heroes.
There is confusion. It is unclear how President Obama's golf outings could be justified as essential during the shutdown.
