Respect forever
Thank God for Mr. Belfanti. He should have a monument to always remember and honor him throughout the years. He deserves respect forever. He was a Godsend to us in our lifetime.
Pushing garbage
I for one am glad the street sweeper isn't running in Mount Carmel. I wish it would never run again. It does nothing but push the neighbor's garbage down the block in front of my house, where I have to go out and clean it up. No, it doesn't pick your garbage up. If everyone would clean in front of their own house and teach the kids to put their garbage in a can, we wouldn't need a street sweeper.
Absurd
I thought that the memorial for Belfanti was a small one until it was displayed in the paper. It is absolutely absurd the size of it.
Another monument
Where will they put the Sen. Edward Helfrick monument?
Precious park
The county commissioners vote not to renew Habitat for Wildlife's (HFW) lease on a property where they have worked for nine years after HFW questions whether the county's precious ATV park might not be environmentally sustainable. What could be the rationale for this decision other than penalizing an organization for speaking their mind and questioning the actions of the county?

Let's hear from Carney and Marino on their positions on the mosque at Ground Zero. This paper should call both candidates and get their positions.
Common sense
Republicans are trying to make political hay and Democrats are trying to just spend spend and spend. People should realize they are not for you anymore. All they are there for is to fill their pockets and the pockets of the rich. Their common sense is totally gone. Frog's take: Amen.
Not the case
I would like to know why the registrar of Mount Carmel AYSO soccer is refusing 5 year olds the right to participate in the sport? I thought that AYSO was focused on kids in our community. Unfortunately, that does not appear to be the case. Frog's take: Have you asked someone other than Sound Off readers?
Bike trail
Why don't they build a bike trail from the Cameron bridge to Paxinos near Masser's Restaurant on the old Reading line? I am sure there is money available if our great politicians would go after it, but they won't and that is why we don't have anything in our area. They are doing all kinds of projects in Sunbury because they know how to get the grants. Frog's take: That line is still in use by North Shore Railroad of Northumber-land, I believe. Also, it isn't county property. And, whether you think it's good or bad, the county IS trying to do something for this area through the OHV park.
Under pressure
What is with the water pressure in Mount Carmel? We can't get enough pressure upstairs to run the shower or flush the toilet. I am just calling to see if they can turn the pressure up. They charge us enough to use they water and we would certainly like to be able to use it. Frog's take: Again, you might want to call someone other than Sound Off!
What good?
What good is cosmetically fixing a building with a half-million dollars when all the students are leaving due to unaffordability?
It's funny
In regard to today's comment about the tax delinquency in Mount Carmel and Northumberland County, I agree. It is funny. The people who want to raise our taxes aren't even paying their own real estate taxes.
When?
When are the Mount Carmel police going to let us know who was arrested in the assault, and why was the mayor so quick to say that it wasn't racial?
