Politics as usual?

I thought things would be different in Northumberland County since Vinny got in there, but I see it's the same old politics. Pat Yasenchak (director of tax claims) was doing a helluva job the last few years; she was there and worked hard to expedite the tax sales with a minimal amount of help. Now she is canned because the county is "going in a different direction." How often we hear that stupid excuse. Can't wait to see whose buddy they appoint.

Security letdown

I recently read about the Shamokin school board and the assault, and how the number of discipline referrals has dropped since the district forced out most of their security officers ("props" to The News-Item on the excellent article coverage). How can the administration be so blind? It is nothing but obvious that the only reason the number of referrals have dropped is because there is no one to write the students up. Obviously, the security officers were doing their jobs; now, with them gone, the students go unpunished.

More than 'thank you'

It seems fashionable these days to "thank a vet" for fighting for our freedoms. However, a discharge paper doesn't mean the fight has ended. If you really want to "thank a vet," help him/ her prevent our politicians from destroying the American ideals that we swore allegiance to. Have a great day!

Not so fast

In response to "Judges, union at fault:" Before you judge, you should have the facts. When the commissioners called for budget cuts, Mountain View Manor successfully met that challenge and there were still layoffs of union people. Ultimately, we were sold. You obviously don't know what unions are about.

Powder puffery

It says here that only because it was a powder puff game you don't keep their scores; it wasn't really even that important. Well, why wasn't it free then? Why do people have to pay? Where did the money go? Investigate that. That is why I don't vote for you people. Frog's take: Huh?

Fundraiser

I understand it was a powder puff game, but, if the boys had some kind of fundraiser, I bet you there would be a whole sheet on what the boys did for a fundraiser being it was for football. But being that it was the girls trying to raise money for the seniors, I guess it is not as important as the boys. Frog's take: Boys or girls, doesn't matter. We would gladly take a photo of a student fundraiser. If they'd like, we could still take a check presentation photo.

Cat licenses

The only reason cats climb trees is to kill birds and destroy people's property. Get licenses.

Gestapo tactics

I think it is ridiculous that the county commissioners in this county have a basic gestapo tactic. Pretty soon there are going to be no employees to run the county courthouse. It is amazing what politicians can get away with.

Walking out

Sarah Palin not only walked out on three jobs, but she also walked out on people who stood in the rain for nine hours for her autograph. Can you imagine that? Think about her picking Glenn Beck to run for president. Her and Glenn Beck as vice president? Oh, God, give it a break! And these Republicans talk about Obama? Imagine what this country would be into. God bless America.
