There were a lot of gays in the military before, and there are still a lot of gays in the military.

Good vibrations

Hey, Frog, I beg to differ on your opinion on the health-care reform bill. I actually work for a U.S. senator and the vibe on Capitol Hill is that it is going to pass. So if you would like to put on a little wager, Frog, I would be happy to do so. Frog's take: I am a lot of things, but a gambling man is not one of them.

Meal of appreciation

I just want to say thank you to Applebee's Restaurant for a very nice Veterans Day meal. I think it is the first time in 30 years someone actually showed they appreciate this veteran's service.

Bus stop litter

Do school buses have garbage bags for kids to throw away their garbage instead of littering bus stops?

No excuses

Why does the national media bend over backwards to make excuses for Muslim extremists while at the same time attack Catholics and other Christians about their views? What is wrong with those liberals? Are they sick in the head?

Dog tags

I would like to know why dogs have to have tags but cats don't.

Uneven

The sidewalks in downtown Shamokin are uneven therefore making them dangerous. If owners cannot replace them, they should mark the area with yellow paint to warn walkers. A women fell and got a terrible facial injury, including fractures.

Just wondering

I live in Mount Carmel and I am wondering if anybody can tell me why my sewage bill costs me more a month than my water bill. That seems ridiculous to me. I thought the stimulus was going to pay for all these improvements that they are doing.

Wrist slap

I see some of the drug bust defendants got a $100 fine and a little bit of probation. Why aren't they being locked up? What is the sense of spending all that money to bust them if they are going to give them a $100 fine and slap them on the wrists? I think they should all go to jail.

It's too early!

I was just wondering why people already put up their Christmas decorations. I was unaware that after Halloween comes Christmas. Pretty soon it will be Christmas in July, and Thanksgiving will be taken out.

Grateful for police

Fantastic job on the drug raids that were just conducted. Something I learned growing up is that you really have to appreciate what these police officers do, putting themselves in harm's way every single day. I had my run-ins with the law growing up, and I can tell you they just do their jobs. I have just started my criminal justice classes and, with any luck, I'll be next to these guys getting the rest of these drug dealers and users off the street. Thank you, Shamokin Police Department. You have opened a lot of eyes, and I am grateful.

Not all lazy

Whoever wrote about people deserving health insurance is an idiot. I have been working since I was 16 and I am 25 and lost my job, and I am collecting. I also have a 2-year-old daughter. I lost my insurance and what I collect is not enough to pay for any or to keep mine going. So, before you put your rude comment in Sound Off, think before you write. I wish I could get help, but cannot. There are people who do not work because of being lazy and they drain the government's pockets. But as for those of us who got laid off, we all deserve medical insurance.
