Missed out

I enjoyed the article in The News-Item regarding the long-gone Central Community Concerts series. The photo showed Reba Hirsch, Irvin Liachowitz and Mary Ellen Lowe reviewing some concert memorabilia. These worthwhile programs still flourish in more-populous centers like Wilkes-Barre and Scranton, but our area was eventually squeezed out. The better shows priced themselves beyond our limit. As performance quality waned, so did popular interest, and membership drives yielded fewer and fewer dollars. It is difficult to imagine a professional musical series gaining traction in our area today, given our current demographics. For those who never got to take part in our local programs, you missed out on a good thing.

Hunting ethics

I am wondering: What ever happened to the hunting ethics of some of the so-called hunters these days? I know most of us are honest. But those of you that go around stealing tree stands, trail cameras, etc. - you should be ashamed of yourselves. Some of us spend a lot of time scouting for a good hunting location and then put up stands only to have them stolen by degenerates like you. Whoever took the stand and cameras in the Locust Gap area, I feel sorry for you. By the way, the stand has some unique identification on it, so if you use it and I find it, you will be arrested. Best bet for you is to put it back where you stole it.
