Interesting read
The local career state politician Bob Belfanti's "Letter to the Editor" was an interesting read, to say the least. I do agree with Bob calling out one of his many detractors, as Bob puts it, about PSERS and SERS funding formula. The bottom line is all funding is taxpayer-based, no matter how you look at it. A MacIntosh Apple looks different than a Granny Smith, but both are apples. The current looming pension crisis is at critical mass, a direct result of Act 9 passed into law, and signed by Tom Ridge in 2009. That law increased state legislators pension plans by 50 percent, and also increased state workers' retirement benefits in general by 25 percent.
Genuine character
The recent obituary on Dan Kearney was a memory jogger. Dan was the scion of one of the semi-regal families that once populated the Bunker Hill section of Shamokin. He was a genuine character of the first order, and he played that colorful and audacious role to perfection. The idea of going gently into that good night would have been unacceptable to Dan.
Heck of a job
This is for all the Vinny bashers out there. Vinny is doing one heck of a job; it might be a little un-orthodox the way he does it, but he gets the job done. When need be, he spends his own money when the taxpayers are not responsible to foot the bill and he always does what's best for the county. For years, Northumberland County has been one of the most corrupt counties in the state, and for a change, it's finally coming to an end, thanks to Vinny Clausi, and I for one am glad he's a commissioner who is doing his job the way it should be done and doesn't worry about being politically correct.
Watch the guy
I think Vinny better watch the guy who is trying to run the courthouse closely. Don't worry about Vinny. Just do your own job.
Good to live on
Mr. Belfanti, I read your very nice article. I see where you can still make between fifty and sixty thousand dollars. I think that is very good to live on. I wish I had that. How would you like to be living on twenty two thousand dollars a year and having the school board and teachers still wanting more money? They can't even live off of the same amount of money that you are going to make. I can't understand this.
Needs corrected
Northumberland County candidates, I hope you all know that you have been given the wrong petition to fill out. You don't have your expense account on it. It needs to be corrected.
