Pension and paycheck
I agree with the person who said the county should have given the detective job to a person who is not getting a pension from another good job he had.
Nice story
What a nice story about the wounded vets having a good time at Knoebels. If they do that next year, why don't they put canisters in some business places so people can donate to the cause? I sure would, and I'm sure a lot of others would, too. Frog's take: Excellent idea.
Deppen plaque
There is a Deppen plaque up at the wall in front of the Anthracite Fire Company in town park.
Why lawsuits?
Why publish stories about lawsuits? You didn't publish the story of the rape of a 16-year-old as large as the story about a lawsuit. Why are lawsuits only being filed against the Catholic church?
PennDOT waivers
I guess I missed the memo, the one that says if you don't like the speed limit, it's OK to ride the back bumper of the car in front of you until that driver, who is only going the speed limit, either adheres to your new-and-improved speed limit and speeds up or gets off the road and out of the way. Given that you have some kind of waiver from PennDOT that the rest of us mere mortals are not privy to, maybe the people with the waivers can all drive florescent orange vehicles. I know you think you are special, so I'm willing to work with you on this. Frog's Take: Amen!
Call the police
My nephew brought over a DVD he rented from that new shop. The DVD wouldn't work on any player, then we realized why: It was a copy of the real DVD. Can a police officer in this town please go over and see what's going on there? If it's a $250,000 fine for each copied DVD, can someone let us know how many illegal copies are being rented to other people? Frog's Take: I can't believe I have to say this again: report crimes to the police, not Sound Off.
Littering
I take roadside memorials as a form of littering, and there is a $300 fine for littering. When the flowers are dead and the ribbons are discolored and everything else is decayed, who is responsible for cleaning up this rubbage? You get the guys in the prison to clean up this roadside mess. Make this illegal and put stuff in graves where the body is buried. Frog's take: They can become eyesores, but do you have any sympathy for the families who know they lost loved ones at those very locations?
What Alaska site?
I've lived here all my life and have never heard of the Alaska site in Excelsior. My son has a dog and never heard of it either. Frog's take: It exists. Pay attention.
The Stinky Show
Here we go again, the Emmys stunk. All they keep saying is, "I'm wonderful. You're wonderful. He's handsome. She's beautiful. We're all perfect." It should be called The Perfect Show. The Emmys, they stink! Frog's take: Here's an idea - turn the channel!
Shut it down
I'd like to know when we're going to find out a little bit more about what happened at the Irish Valley ATV park. And I don't quite understand why the state police will not investigate because of private property. You mean to tell me if someone dies on your property, just because it's your private property, the state police don't investigate? I think they do. Something doesn't sound right here. And let's go, Shamokin Township, supervisors, shut the place down. Frog's take: The end of your comment kind of gives away your motive.
