No pity party
Let's not have a pity party for Belfanti. He got paid well for all those 30 years he was at the trough in Harrisburg. And remember he's got a really good retirement coming from out of your tax dollar.
Candidate 'C'
I see that Bob Belfanti is finally retiring. So now we get to pick between a.) George Zalar, the Democrat, and b.) Kurt Masser, the Republican. What we really need is c.) a good Independent, and if we can't find one, I will vote d.) none of the above.
Already started
Day two and they are already slamming Kurt Masser. Decisions made by Mr. Masser are also made by two other people also. If Mr. Masser would replace Belfanti, Kurt would be using his own judgement and the people's voices. Give him a break; he doesn't even have a platform yet.
Prison speak
Do people know what prisons are for? They are for punishment and confinement for committing a crime. They are not places to go for a vacation. I appreciate the person working in the prison in the deplorable conditions; however, anyone who can't stand their environment can get a different job. There are plenty of people who are willing to fill their shoes and work. Yes, the prison needs to be safe and secure for the protection of the staff and public, but it should stop at that. We don't need another Allenwood. The prisoners do not need TVs with remotes in their cells, carpeting and the joys of living at home.
Voters' choice
I highly resent the fact that Mr. Belfanti has anointed Mr. Zalar to be his replacement to be state representative. With no disrespect to Mr. Belfanti, it should be the Democratic committee's choice, and not yours. Even more so, it should be the people's choice. I hope people consider this and I hope other people run so we have a choice in this election. Frog's take: As you say, it's up to the voters, no matter who Belfanti endorses.
Missing dog
To anyone who has seen or picked up my tan and white terrier chihuahua, missing since Jan. 7 in the Locust Gap-Ashland area, please, I am begging you for a safe return. He is my baby, and we are very heartsick over this. Give me a call 24/7. (Call The News-Item at 644-6397, extension 5, for the phone numbers.) We do have a litter of puppies if you need a puppy that bad.
Trouble in paradise
There's going to be a whole lot of trouble in paradise this year when prima donna Danica Patrick joins NASCAR. She will be crying every time someone scratches her fender.
Double billing
I live in Mount Carmel. when I got home from work today I had a letter from American Hose saying my ambulance subscription is enclosed and one from AREA Services, too. I thought this was supposed to be straightened out. Which one are we supposed to pay?
