Shamokin Area choruses to present concert
COAL TOWNSHIP - The Shamokin Area Senior High choral ensembles will present their annual spring concert at 7 p.m. Monday in the high school auditorium. The public is invited to attend this free performance.
The concert will open with the chorale singing a variety of choral literature, including the spiritual "Elijah Rock" and a swing arrangement of "Bill Bailey, Won't You Please Come Home," featuring Graeme Shappell on trumpet, Marielle Miller on clarinet, Heather Elliott on baritone and Joey Deptula on bass.
The 16-member Chamber Choir will perform the Billy Joel ballad "And So It Goes" and "A Cappella Overtures," a fun arrangement of well-known classical themes. The full ensemble will perform multiple selections, including a musical adaptation of the World War I era poem, "In Flanders Fields," the Disney favorite, "Colors of the Wind," accompanied by Jill Britton on piano, and the popular oldies tunes "One Fine Day" and "The Lion Sleeps Tonight."
Soloists for the concert are Caitlin Fellin, Adam Richardson, Jackie Augustitus, Graeme Shappell, Richard Brown, Corey Levi, Logan Carpenter, Ashley Ripa, Jessica Wywadis, Dana Madl, Katie Augustitus and Cole Supsic.
Chorale members are Katie Augustitus, Jackie Augustitus, Elizabeth Bednar, Jill Britton, Richard Brown, Logan Carpenter, Eryn Cook, Heather Elliott, Caitlin Fellin, Amy Frasch, Tevin Gonzalez, Megan Goodrich, RJ Gurba, Brady Haupt, Corey Levi, Katie Madara, Dana Madl, Leah Mirolli, Nick McWilliams, Marielle Miller, Darian Paul, Danielle Polidario, Jessica Schleig, Graeme Shappell, Alyssa Shuey, Victoria Snyder, Cole Supsic and David Wolfe.
Chorus members include Alex Black, Alisha Black, Tara Blom, Alyssa Britton, Austin Britton, Samantha Carpenter, Chelsie Cossari, Jeannette Costa, Nicole Cullen, Zachary Druckenmiller, Thomas Eby, Alyssa Green, Jarred Jones, Kasandra Lisiewicz, Sarah Long, Sam Marrone, Marcella Nahodil, Caitlin Pancher, Ashley Pennell, Adorabelle Quackenbush, Adam Richardson, Ashley Ripa, Melissa Rishel, Kevin Schank, Sara Snyder, Samantha Startzel, Gabrielle Velez, Becca Wargo, Eric Weikel and Jessica Wywadis.
The choral ensembles are under the direction of Mary Anne Stump. Piano accompanist is Bonny Klinger. Drum set will be played by Caroline McSurdy.
The spring concert season will conclude May 16 with the annual "Pops" concert, presented by the senior high band, orchestra and chorus at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The performance is free and open to the public.
