LATROBE - Michael Wasko, of Coal Township, was one of more than 300 students who graduated from Saint Vincent College during the spring commencement ceremony May 10. He received a Bachelor of Science in biology.

Wasko was a member of the bowling club, Habitat for Humanity, Knights of Columbus, chemistry club, pizza and politics club and the life science club.

Dr. Patrick D. Gallagher, a physicist and former U.S. Commerce official who will become the 18th chancellor of the University of Pittsburgh on Aug. 1, was the principal speaker and received an honorary doctor of science degree.

Charles J. Queenan Jr., a corporate lawyer whose distinguished legal career spanned nearly six decades while he also served as a prominent business, civic and community leader, received an honorary doctor of laws degree.

Wasko is a 2010 graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional High School and is a member of Transfiguration Parish in Shamokin.
