MILTON - The Susquehanna Valley Youth Chorale along with choruses from Lewisburg, Milton, Mifflinburg and Selinsgrove Area high schools will present a Veterans Day Youth Benefit Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday at Milton High School auditorium. The Bucknell University Color Guard will also participate.

"The culmination of 287 youth voices will be an event to remember," conductor Valerie Flamini Caldwell was quoted in a press release about the event.

The concert will honor U.S. military families and personnel. Songs will include traditional and contemporary favorites like "This Land is Your Land," "Home on the Range," "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy," "Danny Boy," "God Bless America" and more.

Proceeds will support Our Military Kids (OMK), a program that provides "hope and direction to military youth," and to the Susquehanna Valley Youth Chorale, said Jean Hormell, chorale president.

"Our OMK contribution will benefit the children of deployed Army Reserve and National Guard military of Pennsylvania," she said. "The SVC Board of Directors approved Our Military Kids because of its successful history."

She said the group has distributed more than $10 million in grants to applying families and relies solely on donations.

"Being an arts organization, we were particularly drawn to their interest in funding music, art, and drama opportunities for kids as well as sports and tutoring," Hormell said.

Members of the community are encouraged to make a tax-deductible donation before the concert, in honor or in memory of a loved one. Donations received before the concert will be commemorated in the program with the name of the honoree and the giver. Community members can also make a donation.

Donations will continue to be accepted throughout November. The donation form can be downloaded at www.SVCMusic.org.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students/children and can be purchased in advance from www.SVCMusic.org, by calling 547-0455 or at the door.
