POINT TOWNSHIP - A Dornsife woman and a Northumberland man were killed Friday morning in a violent three-vehicle accident near the intersection of Route 11 and Ridge Road, about five miles north of Northumberland.

Northumberland County Coroner James F. Kelley identified one of the victims as Faye M. Kieffer, 85, of Middle Creek Road, Dornsife. Montour County Coroner Scott Lynn identified the second victim as Jeffery Robinson, 60, of Northumberland.

Kieffer was pronounced dead at the scene by Kelley at 11:34 a.m. while Robinson was pronounced dead at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, by Lynn at 12:05 p.m.

Both deaths were ruled accidental and attributed to multiple blunt force trauma, the coroners reported.

Point Township Police are expected to release more details today.

The crash happened at approximately 11:30 a.m., when Robinson was traveling south on Route 11 in a green Ford Windstar GL van.

Robinson reportedly swerved into northbound traffic for unknown reasons and struck a red SUV and a four-door Ford Taurus, Lynn said.

The Taurus was being driven by Faye Kieffer's husband, Derl, who was listed in critical condition by a Geisinger nursing supervisor at 9:30 p.m.

Robinson's vehicle landed on railroad tracks after impact.

Route 11 was closed in both directions for most of the afternoon while police reconstructed the scene. Route 11 north of Northumberland reopened for traffic at 2:20 p.m., PennDOT reported. PennDOT first reported the closure and a detour at 11:30 a.m.

The first vehicle had minor damage and the driver sustained a minor injury.

The identities and conditions of the other people involved in the accident were unavailable Friday night.

In addition to Kelley, the coroner's office personnel at the scene were Chief Deputy Coroner James R. Gotlob and Deputy Coroner Barry J. Leisenring.
