Two arrested on drug charges
MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Two out-of-town men, one from Williamsport and the other from Reading, have been charged in connection with a March 17 incident involving crack cocaine and heroin, according to the Northumberland-Montour County Drug Task Force, Sunbury.
The task force reported Jeremy Allan Drummond, 36, of 685 Second Ave., Williamsport, was charged with one count of criminal conspiracy, two counts of possession with intent to deliver and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
He was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones and transported to Northumberland County Prison after failing to post $100,000 cash bail.
Lamar Tyrone Frederick, 36, of 553 Robeson St., Reading, was charged with one count of criminal conspiracy, two counts of possession with intent to deliver, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, false identification to law enforcement, driving under suspension, traveling outside lane mark for travel and careless driving.
He reportedly gave a fictitious name, but his true identity was discovered after being transported to the Sunbury Police Department and "live-scanned" by Officer Travis Bremigen. He was also wanted by Union, Berks and Lycoming counties for various warrants. He was detained on the warrants.
The charges were a result of an incident that occurred at 2:20 a.m. March 17, after Frederick was stopped on Route 54 in Mount Carmel Township.
Through investigative techniques, Officer David J. Stamets of the Mount Carmel Township Police Department and assisting officers Matthew Dillman and Jason Drumheller of the Mount Carmel Borough Police Department discovered 18.2 grams of crack cocaine, 28 bags of heroin and an undisclosed amount of cash hidden on the defendants and inside the vehicle.
Charges were filed by Stamets, a task force officer.
