Trevorton man charged with stealing, using fire company's credit card
TREVORTON - Zerbe Township police have charged a village man with stealing a credit card belonging to Trevorton Fire Company and using it to make more than $4,000 in purchases.
Kevin Russell Buch, 19, of 422 W. Market St., who has no affiliation with the fire company, was charged by Chief of Police Robert John with access device fraud, theft by unlawful taking, theft from a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property.
John said Buch removed the Sunoco credit card from the interior of a Trevorton Fire Company emergency vehicle at 626 W. Shamokin St. and used it to purchase $4,731.17 worth of items including gas, cigarettes, chips, soda and other food items between Nov. 1 and Dec. 20.
Fire company officials were alerted about the theft when a fire truck operator attempted to use the card at Sunoco Gas Station along Route 225 and was informed the card was "maxed out."
Buch was arraigned on the charges earlier this week by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III and released on $5,000 unsecured bail.
