Three more charged in drug sting

Police had not provided details on five of the 40 suspects charged Thursday in a countywide drug sweep coordinated by the Northumberland-Montour Drug Task Force.

Friday, information on three of the those defendants was provided as follows:

- Harry Wheary, 21, of Shamokin - two counts of possession with intent to deliver, and single counts of criminal use of a communication facility, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

- Daniel C. Deitz, 31, of Coal Township - possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and criminal conspiracy.

- Dennis C. Paczkowski, 20, of Coal Township - possession of drug paraphernalia.

Details on the charges against two others who were apprehended and identified as defendants Thursday are expected soon.

Some 40 people were taken into custody by police from Mount Carmel to Milton. Warrants were issued for more than 50 people.

The war on drugs is a war on our own people! Other countries where drugs are legal do not have the problems that happen in countries where drugs are illegal. The U.S. needs more drug education, decriminalization, & legalization. Also, a age limit just like on alcohol.Which is a drug,too!Many people ignore that fact. People have been using drugs for 1000's of years & aren't going to stop!

Some of the names of the arrested are repeat offenders,it seems like they buy them a meal new clothes for court and release them to do it over again. Enough is enough we need stricter sentences for these people and also repeat dui and driving suspended.......
