Bill was born in Danville, a son of William and Virginia Rodkey, of Northumberland.

He was a 1964 graduate of Northumberland High School. He was interested in baseball, hunting and fishing as a youth.

Bill was assigned as a squad leader with B Company, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division Fleet Marine Force, after being sent to Vietnam in January 1967. On Aug. 24, 1967, Cpl. Rodkey was fatally wounded in the vicinity of Quang Tri. He was previously injured and awarded a Purple Heart National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Ribbon and 1960 Asian Theater Medal.

Bill was survived by his mother and father.

Bill was 20 years old and is remembered on panel 25E, line 40.
