Sunbury man still in critical after shooting
DANVILLE - A Sunbury man who was shot Tuesday by the city's acting police chief, remained in critical condition Friday at Geisinger Medical Center.
Erick R. Trometter, 22, of 618 Susquehanna Ave., was charged Wednesday by Sunbury police with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor simple assault and summary harassment for allegedly assaulting his 67-year-old grandmother Tuesday morning. Two hours later, with a warrant out for his arrest, acting Police Chief Brad Hare spotted him walking along Mile Post Road near Shikellamy Avenue. Police said Trometter had a knife when a confrontation ensued. He was Tased first. When that didn't subdue him, police said Hare shot him.
State police at Stonington is handling the shooting investigation, in which charges are pending.
